My photography career literally began when I took to the sky. Working as an aerial photographer allowed me to tell the story of our great wild continent as I saw it from above. It was scarred as a wild thing we have tried to tame. Like a living, breathing skin pocked and marked by a life lived dangerously, destructively and beautifully. It taught me that looking at the ordinary from a different perspective can unearth a raw beauty that could otherwise be missed.
This philosophy directs my photography. I take photos everyday because it helps me see our world more clearly. In my documentary-style wedding photography I stand back and let the story unfold naturally before me. I look for shots in the interactions between the bride, groom and guests. I record the narrative of the day with all its colour, joy and emotion.
Whatever I photograph I want to capture it with candid, graceful honesty. I take photographs for art’s sake, for story’s sake, to make sense of life and as a series of documentaries. I take photographs because I love to.
